Finally one day there was diggers there and everything is now happening.
They have dug in towards the back of the block and they have added dirt near the front. It has all been levelled and prepared for the slab. The piers have been dug in and cemented and all of the plumbing pipes have been put in place. But the most telling thing that makes it look like a builders block is the big white dunny in the front yard.
We walked around there on Saturday to take a look and to take the photos of the site. When we arrived there was a girl and a guy in a ute with a trailer backed up to the site and filling their trailer with dirt. They were acting weirdly and even taking photos of each other doing it. It seems we had some dirt stealers in our midst - we did consider asking them if they had some beautiful plants as well. So the dirt pile has been halved. We rang the site manager and let him know and we have their license plates as well.
The dirt pile halved |
Here is a photo of the site you can see the slightly higher flat level is the main house area and the lower flat level at the front is where the front porch and balcony will be.
The plumbing pipes sticking up look funny and there is already a broken one (wonder if it was our mystery dirt stealers??) but I am sure it will all get fixed.
So after we had a look around we carefully shut the gate (be gone thieves!!!) and left them to it. Over the last couple of days there has been much more activity and the reinforcing squares have all been laid over the house area and everything is boxed in ready for the slab. Unfortunately it is always too dark by the time we get home to take photos. The slab is due to be poured this Friday (19th July) weather permitting so we will be back to take photos this weekend and update the blog.
Thanks all for reading and sharing this journey with us. The excitement really starts now...and Frederik is still impatient :-)
