Then on Wednesday our site manager calls us and says "bad news - there are 5 waste pipes in the wrong place we need to cut the slab and redo them. So Frederik asks "what how common is it that, that many pipes are in the wrong place?" Apparently uncommon but not unheard of.
So we rang our inspection company and asked them what they want to do. They recommended inspecting now and also after the cuts and changes to the slab are done.
Therefore on Friday Frederik met with the building inspector and they went through. There needs to be some further bracings on the framing but on the whole not too bad. He said that it was clear it was a young crew and they were showing a little bit of a lack of experience. The waste pipes are a problem and it is a lot of work to redo and they will have to be careful. The recommendations will be going through to the builder and they will need to fix it.
So still happy with it but we wait to see how they deal with the waste pipes issues as well as those identified in the building inspection.
Some more photos now the framing is finished including some from upstairs. Roof goes on next week.
Visiting the house and seeing the balcony off the master bedroom taking shape.
Windows installed in the guest bedroom (plus more waiting)
Front door
Front entrance - notice the waste pipe in the hallway, the powder room toilet is actually the frame behind it to the left.
Looking from the guest ensuite into the walk in linen cupboard - see the waste pipe in the doorway? Just what every linen cupboard needs.
Powder room and wash room - notice no waste pipe plumbing?
